In his brief greeting, His Grace Bishop Evmenios conveyed to everyone the paternal wishes of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and congratulated everyone who organised the event. Addressing everyone, but especially the students of the school, among others, he shared two thoughts with them:
1. The events of October 28 were the beginning of Greece’s friendship with Australia, something very important for us because today, while our birthplace is the blessed Greece, our home is Australia. This friendship that was formed then gave the opportunity to our grandparents and our parents to come here as immigrants to the antipodes for a better life.
2. Analysing to the students the events of October 28, His Grace advised them that sometimes we have to say “No” in our lives to our decisions. Sometimes with a resounding “No”, initially we seem to lose things, friends or privilege but a “No” can bring better situations which are more blessed and powerful.
