Visit of the new Consul General of Greece in Alexandria to the Patriarch of Alexandria
The new Consul General of Greece in Alexandria, Mr. Ioannis Pyrgakis, was received on Thursday, 26 October 2023, by His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa.
Addressing the new Consul General, the Patriarch briefly referred to the historical course and the modern sacrificial ministry of the Alexandrian Church in the African continent, as well as to the long-standing presence of Hellenism in the City of Alexander the Great. Finally, he wished him every success in his upcoming duties.
For his part, Mr. Pyrgakis expressed his joyful feelings for the assumption of his service in Alexandria, which is the cradle of Hellenism and Christianity, assuring the Patriarch of Alexandria, that he will be a constant helper and partner in the multifaceted work of the Patriarchate.
This was followed by a private meeting at the private Patriarchal Office, as well as a tour of the premises of the Patriarchal Palace by the Consul General.
