Trisagion for late Metropolitan of Sardis Maximos in Halki seminary

The memory of the late Metropolitan Maximos of Sardis was honored today, December 30, 2021, at the Theological School of Halki, on the occasion of the completion of 35 years since he reposed in the Lord.

Bishop Cassianos of Arabissos presided over the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Patriarchal Skete of Saint Spyridon. The feast of St. Gedeon was also celebrated.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy, a Trisagion was performed for the repose of the soul of the blessed Metropolitan Maximos of Sardis.

Metropolitan Maximos, one of the most distinguished hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne in the last century, was a graduate of the Theological School of Halki (1937). He submitted a dissertation on “The chronological problem of the Lord”. Afterwards, as a high priest, he served for decades as a member and President of the administrative board of the School, which he often visited and stayed in for a long time. During his stay at the Theological School, he wrote his most important studies, including his most important work “The Ecumenical Patriarchate in the Orthodox Church”.

Metropolitan Meliton of Philadelphia attended the Trisagion and spoke briefly to the congregation about the form and personality of the Blessed Metropolitan Maximos of Sardis.
