The Service of the Lamentations at the Ecumenical Patriarchate

On Great and Holy Friday, 3 May 2024, the Service of the Lamentations of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ took place in a deeply reverent atmosphere at the venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George in the Phanar, and was presided over by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who was also joined by Their Eminences, Metropolitan Meliton of Philadelphia, Metropolitan Irinaios of Myriophytos and Peristasis, Metropolitan Theoliptos of Iconium, Metropolitan Ioakeim of Bursa and Metropolitan Theodoros of Seleucia.

The emotion of the day peaked during the procession of the Epitaphios, inside the Patriarchal Church crowded with many faithful believers.
