The reception of the Holy Cincture of the Most Holy Theotokos in Piraeus

A multitude of believers, school students, but also representatives of the political and military leadership, gathered early Saturday morning at the port of Piraeus, to welcome the Holy Relic and receive the blessing of our Most Holy Theotokos.

At 11.30 a.m., the Coast Guard boat arrived at the port and the Abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, Elder Ephraim, with the Vatopedi Fathers, brought forth the Holy Cinture (Belt) of the Most Holy Theotokos.

There, His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus received the Holy Relic while Army parades paid due respects.

Present were, the Minister of Shipping Mr. Yannis Plakiotakis and the political Commander of Mount Athos Mr. Athanasios Martinos.

Then, on the specially designed platform, a prayer service was held, officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus.
