The celebration of the feast of the Saints of Samos
On Sunday, 4 August 2024, the Holy Metropolis of Samos, Ikaria and Korsea, celebrated with ecclesiastical splendour, the Saints of Samos, fulfilling a sacred duty and paying the due honour and gratitude to Saints Hermogenes, Leon and Heraklion, Bishops of Samos, Saint George the Neomartyr, Saint Paul Latrinos, the Holy military martyrs Gregory, Theodore and Leon and the Holy Kollyvades Fathers.
On Saturday, 3 August, the festive Hierarchical Vespers were held at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Nicholas of Samos, officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Eusevios of Samos, then the procession of the Holy Relics and the Holy Icons of the Saints took place on the waterfront of the city of Samos, as well as the Artoklasia and the Holy Sermon which was delivered by Metropolis Eusevios.
On Sunday, 4 August, the Matins Service was celebrated and then the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Nicholas of Samos, which was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Eusevios of Samos, then the ordination of Fr. Anastasios Kokonos as a presbyter took place.
Before the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, a memorial service was chanted for the repose of the souls of emigrant Samians from all over the world, since it had been established that the Sunday of the Saints of Samos would be dedicated to the emigrant Samians.
On Sunday evening, the Holy Metropolis organised, with the participation of its children’s and youth choir, “Evodia”, a festive event and an island festival in honour of the emigrants of Samos at the Port of Samos in front of Pythagoras Square.
All the above mentioned celebrations were attended by the priests of the Metropolis, the political and military Authorities of the island and a number of expatriate Samians from Australia, America, Canada, Africa, Athens and Thessaloniki. Many other guests also attended the events.
