Kefalonia: Doxology for the anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece

With due splendour, the anniversary of the union of the Ionian Islands with Mother Greece was celebrated in Argostoli, Kefalonia.

The celebrations, which were moved to May 13 due to the holding of the national elections on the 21st of the month, began with the customary doxology at the Metropolitan Church of the Evangelistria, presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Dimitrios of Kefallinia.

The temple area was filled with the blue and white flags held by students and representatives of cultural and sports associations.

Present were representatives of the local political leadership, candidates for parliament and representatives of the Law Enforcement.

The celebratory panegyric of the day was delivered by the philologist Maria Menegatou, member of the Association of Philologists of Kefallinia & Ithaca.
