On Saturday, April 9, at the Archdiocesan Church of Saint Eustathios, in South Melbourne, the series of talks was completed, under the general title “Journey to Pascha 2022”, which was organised with great success by the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne, with the care and guidance of His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis.
The “Journey to Pascha” included six talks of spiritual construction, focusing on the importance of Holy and Great Lent. The speeches were hosted in an equal number of parishes in the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne and among the speakers was His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, who on Saturday, March 19, analysed all aspects of the Sacrament of Confession in front of a large audience at the Parish of the Entrance of the Theotokos in North Balwyn.
Presentations with interesting and substantial content were also presented by Lecturers of the Saint Andrew’s Theological College in Sydney and, in particular, by: Father Anastasios Bozikis, Dr. Lydia Gore Jones, Dr. Andrew Melas, Dr. Philip Kariatlis and Mr. Basilios Psilacos.
Mr. Psilacos, who teaches Byzantine Music and Liturgics at Saint Andrew’s Theological College, Sydney, was the keynote speaker of the event that took place at The Church of Saint Eustathios, Melbourne, with which the “curtain” of the “Journey to Pascha 2022” fell, closing the series for 2022. The theme of Mr. Psilacos’ talk was “The Divine Liturgy”, while the event also included chants, which were performed perfectly by Chanters from the Australian School of Byzantine Music.
After the presentation by Mr. Psilacos, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, warmly thanked Mr. Psilacos for his presence and conveyed to all those present the cordial wishes and prayers of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
