Joint commitment to unity and stability between new Lebanese President and Patriarch of Antioch
A shared commitment to fostering unity and stability in Lebanon was affirmed during yesterday’s meeting between the new President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, and His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch.
Patriarch John, accompanied by Metropolitans of the Patriarchate, visited President Aoun in Beirut to convey his warm congratulations. During the meeting, the Patriarch wished the President success in his tenure, expressing hope that he would serve as a “symbol of unity for the Lebanese people.”
The Patriarch emphasised the strength and stability required to navigate through times of crisis, offering prayers that God may guide the President in working for the welfare of the nation and the prosperity of its citizens.
As a gesture of honour and respect, Patriarch John presented President Aoun with an icon of the Virgin Mary, wishing him divine guidance in fulfilling his responsibilities.
It is worth noting that the Patriarch had previously expressed his support for President Aoun in a congratulatory message following his election.
In his message, Patriarch John highlighted the importance of unity and leadership, acknowledging the Lebanese people’s trust in the President’s abilities. He also underscored the pivotal role of the Lebanese Army, led by President Aoun prior to his election, as a symbol of stability and hope for the nation.
