GO Youth Melbourne – First in a series of talks on dating and relationships

On 11 May 2023, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios and under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, GO Youth Melbourne under the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, held its first talk in a series on dating and relationships.

The special guests for the night were Fr George and Presvytera Irene Adamakis from the parish of St Catherine, Malvern East, where the event was held. Also present was His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis.

The talk was attended by 74 youth and young adults between the ages of 18-29, the highest attendance for a GO Youth Melbourne talk so far. The topic attracted many new attendees, all eagerly anticipating Father and Presvytera’s perspectives on dating and relationships.

The talk began with His Grace explaining the importance of Christ-focused relationships. He explained that a yearning to be married comes from Christ and advised the audience to seek first a relationship with Christ and everything else will follow. Father and Presvytera then answered the audience’s questions. Throughout the night they provided details on how they met and how they have supported each other throughout their 14-year marriage. They also offered spiritually enlightening and encouraging advice on dating and marriage.
