The Sanctification of the Waters in Tempe, by Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa
On the Sunday after Theophany, His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos travelled to the Holy Pilgrimage site of Agia Paraskevi in Tempe, and conducted the blessing of the waters in front of the blessed spring, and following this, blessed the waters of the Pineios River from the suspension bridge above.
In his short homily, Metropolitan Ieronymos spoke of the blessing that is spread to all of creation symbolically through the blessing of water, which has the ability to be everywhere. He wished for the blessing and the illumination of the feast day to reign in our hearts throughout the year.
The service of the Sanctification of the Waters was honoured with the presence of the Mayor of Tempe, Mr. Georgios Manolis, the President of the Municipal Council, Mr. Dimitrios Maimaris, collaborators of the Municipality of Tempe and faithful believers, while the philharmonic band of The Holy Church of Saint George the Great Martyr of Larissa added special glamour to the whole event with their joyful music.
Before the dismissal, Metropolitan Ieronymos thanked the vice-president Protopresbyter Athanasios Kozanitis and the members of the Administrative Committee who serve tirelessly and take care of the Pilgrimage site of Agia Paraskevi, as well as the person responsible for the entire organisation of the blessing of the waters event, The Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, Archimandrite Ignatios Mourtzanos.
