Wildire near Aghia Pelagia, Kythira
On Tuesday, 6 September 2022, a wildfire broke out in a forest area in Aghia Pelagia on the island of Kythira. Fifteeen fire engines operated by 65 fire fighters as crew, five teams of firemen on foot, four firefighting aircraft and four helicopters were sent to put out the blaze.

The Fire Brigade’s efforts to fully contain the wildfire that broke out in a forest area near Aghia Pelagia on the island of Kythira on Tuesday continued on Wednesday.
Firefighting aircraft resumed operation at dawn while there were no active fronts by Wednesday morning.
Ten fire engines with 75 firefighters as crew, four teams of firefighters on foot, firefighting aircraft and helicopters took part in the operation.
