Visit of the Ambassador of Greece to Australia to the District of Adelaide

On Monday, 18 December 2023, the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide was blessed to receive the Ambassador of Greece, His Excellency Mr. Georges Papacostas, together with his wife Gohar Badalyan, accompanied by the Consul General of Greece in Adelaide, Mr. George Psiachas.

His Excellency was received by the Archiepiscopal Vicar of the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide, His Grace Bishop Silouan of Sinope, for an evening meal at the Archiepiscopal Church of St Sophia (Holy Wisdom of God) in Bowden, along with two-dozen members of the clergy, Inter-Communities Council and the Central Philoptochos of the District of Adelaide. His Grace conveyed the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

His Excellency’s visit to St Sophia was part of a longer visit to Adelaide that included a visit to five parishes in five days, in which he was able to gauge and appreciate the breadth of Greek cultural influence across the City of Churches.
