Victoria records 867 new local COVID-19 cases and four more deaths

Victoria has recorded 867 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and four more deaths on Tuesday.

The health statement said an additional 149 cases were not recorded on Sunday and Monday, due to a software error.

These results included nine additional cases reportable on Sunday and 140 cases on Monday.

These infections, as well as the 867 recorded on Tuesday, bring the number of active cases in the state to 9,261.

The 867 figure is much larger than that recorded by NSW on Monday, at 787 cases.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says the state will pass its 80 per cent single-dose vaccination target on Tuesday, as he flagged a modest level of restriction relaxations.

From midnight, Victorians will be able to undertake activities such as tennis, golf and boating.

The 10 kilometre travel limit will also be expanded to 15 kilometres.

“We are not over selling it, it’s a series of modest changes, but it gets people back outdoors doing the things they love,” he told radio 3AW.
