Victoria records 79 new cases of COVID-19

Victoria’s daily coronavirus numbers are in.

The state has recorded 79 new, locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and zero in hotel quarantine.

The Department of Health says of the new cases, 53 are linked to known outbreaks. This means there are, at this stage, 26 mystery cases.

Health authorities did not say many people were isolating for their entire infectious period. We expect to learn more at this morning’s press conference (the time of which is yet to be confirmed).

There are 660 active coronavirus cases across the state.

Today’s numbers are off the back of yesterday’s 50,535 coronavirus tests.
