On the second Sunday of Holy and Great Lent, 31 March 2024, His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon officiated during both the Matins and Divine Liturgy from the throne of the Metropolitan Church of Saint Euphemia, which is located in the heart of the market place of Chalcedon, at the crossroads of civilisations, and is an attraction for many pilgrims and visitors from abroad as well as from Constantinople.

The Divine Liturgy was served by the Protosyncellus of the Metropolis, Archimandrite Evgenios Karatzas and was assisted by Deacon Asterios Bardakçı, while the Parish Priest Father Naukratios Fourountzoglou was present joined in prayer from the Holy Altar.

A large number of parishioners and pilgrims from Constantinople and abroad attended the Divine Liturgy, including members of the Chalcedon Community. At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel spoke to the congregation about the great figure that our Church puts forth and honours on this day, Saint Gregory Palamas, and about his teaching.
