The Patriarch of Serbia was enthroned at the Monastery of Peć in Kosovo

The official enthronement ceremony of Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia took place on Friday 14 October, 2022,  at the Monastery of Peć in Kosovo.

The ceremony was attended by Bishops of the Serbian Church, representatives of other Churches, and hundreds of believers, who flooded the Temple and the courtyard of the Monastery early in the morning. The ceremony was not attended by a representative of the Serbian government, as Kosovo border authorities did not allow the entrance of Kosovo office Chief Petar Petkovic.

After his enthronement, Patriarch Porfirije stressed in his speech the need for the peaceful coexistence of Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo, while stressing that the prevalence of peace throughout the world is nowadays anything but a divine imperative.

Patriarch Porfirije was elected primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) on February 18, 2021, succeeding Patriarch Irinej, who fell asleep in the Lord in November 2020 due to complications from the coronavirus. The first enthronement ceremony of Patriarch Porfirije took place one day after his election on February 19, 2021, at the Cathedral of the Archangels in Belgrade.
