The Patriarch of Bulgaria was admitted to hospital with a broken thigh bone

His Beatitude Patriarch Neophytos of Bulgaria who had an accident at the Patriarchal Residence,  suffered a fracture of the upper part of the left thigh bone on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

The Bulgarian Patriarch is being treated at the UMBAL Sofiyamed hospital, where he will undergo surgery.

The press release of the Holy Synod stated that his condition is stable and that he is praying for the congregation of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

In the press release, the Bulgarian Patriarchate called on “the clergy and the faithful of the God-loving people to pray for its rapid restoration, as well as to accept as credible the information only announced by the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Patriarchate.”
