The New President of the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand sends wishes to the Archbishop of Australia

On the occasion of the celebration of the venerable Patronal Feast Day of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia in Sydney, the new President of the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand Mr. Emmanuel Mountakis had a meeting with the Archbishop, to wish him well and receive his blessing.

Mr. Mountakis, who is based in Sydney, takes over the leadership of Cretans of Oceania for the next three years, until January 2027. He received the “baton” from outgoing President Mr. Tony Tsourdalakis, based in Melbourne, who completed his four-year term (2020 – 2024).

Both the current President, Mr. Mountakis, and the former President, Mr. Tsourdalakis, wished the Primate of Orthodoxy in Australia many and blessed years, and for the Almighty God to grant him health and many years to continue his worthy work on the fifth continent.

During the discussion that took place between the Archbishop and Messrs. Mountakis and Tsourdalakis, His Eminence referred, among other things, to this year’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia and asked for the full participation and support of all his compatriots, of the Cretans of Oceania, in the anniversary program of events, culminating in the visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Australia, in October 2024.
