The Holy Cincture of the Most Holy Theotokos is taken to Cyprus

The Holy Cincture (Sash) was received with head of state honours at the old airport of Larnaca, in the first blessed visit to the great island of Cyprus after 34 years.

The unique relic of the Mother of God from the earthly life of Our Lady was brought from the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi on Mount Athos, by its Abbot, Archimandrite Ephraim, and was welcomed by His Eminence Metropolitan Vasilios of Constantia and Ammochostos, in the presence of the Minister of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Marios Hartsiotis.

The prescribed honours were given by an honorary detachment of the National Guard.

After the official reception, a prayer was offered in the presence of the Holy Cincture inside Larnaca airport. The reception was attended by Their Eminences, Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol, Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamassos and Oreinis, Metropolitan Nektarios of Kition, and Their Graces, Bishop Nikolaos of Amathounta and Bishop Porphyrios of Neapolis, clergy and a multitude of believers who rushed to venerate the Holy Cincture from the early hours of its arrival in Cyprus.
