The first “Five Loaves Initiative” Toy Drive 2022

On Wednesday, 14 December 2022,  over 600 toys were delivered by the ‘Five Loaves Initiative’ volunteers, to the Monash Children’s Hospital sorting facility warehouse in Dandenong, Victoria.

Upon arrival, they were unexpectedly asked by the hospital staff to be interviewed by the Channel 7 News team as they were intrigued to find out more about the ‘Five Loaves Initiative’ and the toy drive. The ‘Five Loaves Initiative’ interview will be aired on Channel 7 Christmas Day, between 4:00 and 6:00pm

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, heartfelt thanks and gratitude goes out to all the parish priests and parishioners from the Greek Orthodox Churches in the district of Melbourne, that have come together as one united Orthodox community this Christmas and overwhelmingly shown their generosity in many toy donations.

The “Five Loaves Initiative” volunteers will also be delivering more toy donations to other Hospitals, Crisis and Family Services Centres and Ronald McDonald Houses. “We hope to put a smile on children’s faces suffering from disadvantage and illness this Christmas.”
