The First Divine Liturgy of His Eminence Archbishop Evgenios of Crete

His first Divine Liturgy as Archbishop of Crete – and in fact in a many-priestly Divine Liturgy- was celebrated this yesterdar , Sunday 6th February on the 17th Sunday of Matthew, by His Eminence Archbishop Evgenios of Crete, who was enthroned on Saturday the 5th of February. In the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Minas, were present the Metropolitan of Austria Arsenios, the Metropolitan of Messinia Chrysostomos, the Bishop of Apamea Paisios, the Bishop of Knossos Prodromos, The Great Protocyncellus of the Ecumenical Patriarchate Very Rev. Theodoros Meimaris and many other Hierarchs were in Heraklion due to the enthronement.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Archbishop Evgenios of Crete, elevated Father Stamatios Milathianakis, Protopresbyter of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete, as a sign of gratitude, as he mentioned, for his many years of tireless service and ministry in the church and in the church from 2005.

The Archbishop spoke with emotion and cordiality about the beloved priest and head of the family, since he stood by him in the easy and the difficult times with prudence, devotion and love for each person. He wished God to give him many more years to serve the church.

After the Divine Liturgy, the faithful had the opportunity to meet again with the new Archbishop, in order to wish him congratulations for his recent enthronement.

The joy of many Cretans for the enthronement of Archbishop Evgenios is evident, as they set up dances indoors and outdoors. Members of the band “Kourites” danced in a hall of the Archdiocese of Crete, as you can see in the video below.
