The first Divine Liturgy in over 60 years at the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, Episkopi, Sikinos.

In the renovated and restored Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, in Episkopi of Sikinos, which on Saturday was officially dedicated to the public and Divine Worship, His Eminence Metropolitan Dorotheos II of Syros, officiated at the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning, September 4 2022, surrounded by Protopresbyters Very Rev. Father Thomas Synodinos and Very Rev. Father Theodoros Arsenikos, the Vicar of the area, with the presence of the Abbess of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Chrysopigis Nun Dorothea, Archaeologists and a multitude of faithful believers.

In his homily, Metropolitan Mr. Dorotheos II said: “Today, sacred memories and hymns of centuries, which for 60 years, afraid of the advance of the pandemonium of time, had taken refuge and hid in the joints of the stones of the holy Prothesis and the Holy Altar Table, listening to the liturgical hymns, which we recited in tears, and smelling the fragrance of the incense, today they awoke and thanked with us the Mother of God, The Theotokos, as the things of God were given unto God.

Saints Theodoros Stratilatis and Dimitrios the Great-martyr and myrhh-flower pray and rejoice with us, fragments of the icons of which are preserved in this monumental Church and Temple of God, from whom again, after 60 years, the bloodless Sacrifice will be offered to God in this Holy Church”.
