The Feast of Theophany in Qatar

The Feast of Theophany was celebrated in Doha, Qatar, with ecclesiastical splendour and reverence.

On Thursday, 3rd/16th January 2025, the Great Hours of Theophany were read and the Vespers Service with the blessing of the five loaves was held at the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos.

On Friday, 4th/17th January 2025, the Feast of Theophany was celebrated at the Doha Cathedral of St. Isaac of Syria, St. George, and St. Makarios of Jerusalem. For pastoral reasons, the feast was moved to Friday to facilitate the participation of the faithful, as Friday is a day of rest.

On Friday, the Matins Service was conducted, followed by the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Qatar, with the co-celebration of the Cross-bearer and Archdeacon, Father Michael Theocharidis, and with the participation of a large number of faithful. After the Liturgy, the service of the Great Sanctification of the Waters was held. The hymns were chanted by the choir of the Holy Church in Arabic, Greek, and Slavonic.
