The Greek Presidential Guards to participate in ANZAC Week commemorations 2025 in Sydney

Sydney is set to host a historic and culturally significant event in 2025, as 14 members of the Greek Presidential Guard, known as the Evzones, will arrive in the city to take part in events in honour of ANZAC Week. From 28 April to 4 May, the Evzones will take part in a series of events celebrating the unbreakable bond between Greece and Australia, particularly through the shared spirit of the ANZACs.
This visit commemorates 125 years since Australians and Greeks fought side by side for their shared ideals and homelands. 2025 also marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, making this visit a cornerstone of the Greek-Australian community’s tributes to those who sacrificed for our present and future.
From the battlefields of Lemnos, Macedonia and the Gallipoli Peninsula during World War I to the liberation of the Aegean islands during World War II, Australians and Greeks stood united in the defence of freedom and democracy. This shared history continues to inspire generations, and the visit of the Evzones is a powerful reminder of this legacy.
