The Feast of the Indictus 2022 at the Phanar

According to ecclesiastical order and tradition, on Thursday, September 1, at the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the beginning of the Indictus – the ecclesiastical New Year – and the Synaxis in honor of the Most Holy Theotokos of Pammakaristos, whose holy icon is kept in the venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George, Phanar, were celebrated. Today is also dedicated, since 1989, to prayer for the protection of the natural environment, and thus the established Patriarchal Message was read.

At the end, the Indiction ceremony took place, during which the Ecumenical Patriarch read the prayer and praxis of the new Indictus. Then, he signed the relevant text in the Codex of the Great Church and then all the Metropolitans and Archbishops of the Throne present signed in order also.
