The Feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos at the Tomb of the Theotokos
On March 26/April 8, 2024, the day of commemoration of the Synaxis of the Archangel Gabriel, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary was celebrated by transference according to the Status Quo in the holy shrine of Gethsemane, in which the Theotokos’ Tomb lies.
The Divine Liturgy of the feast day was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Isychios of Kapitolias, with the co-celebration of the Holy Sepulchre Archimandrites, Philoumenos, Meletios, Dionysios, Ieronymos, Amfilochios, Priest George Baramki, Archdeacon Mark and Hierodeacon Dositheos. The chanting was delivered by Hierodeacon Simeon, Fr. Ioannis Antoniou and the students of the Patriarchal School of Sion. The service was attended by monks, nuns and local pilgrims.
After the Divine Liturgy, a treat was offered at the rectory by the zealous guardian and restorer of the Holy shrine of Gethsemane, His Eminence Metropolitan Joachim of Helenoupolis.
