The Feast Day of Saint Tryphon at the Metochion of the Holy Sepulchre in Nichori of the Bosporus

As every year, this year as well, a Divine Liturgy was held at the Holy Church of Saint George Neochorion, the Metochion of the Holy Sepulchre, in memory of Saint Tryphon, patron saint of vine-growers, farmers and gardeners, and was presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Nektarios of Anthidon, Commissioner of the Holy Sepulchre in Constantinople, and was joined in prayer by His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Kydonia, Patriarchal Overseer of the Bosporus District, and many parishioners.

Before the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Archbishop Nektarios read the exorcism prayers of Saint Tryphon in front of the ornate proskinitarion with the preserved icon of the Great Martyr, located in the southern aisle of the Church, and he blessed the fruits and vegetables, which were distributed to the faithful.

Then a Trisagion was conducted, for the repose of the soul of his ever-remembered and respected mother, Sophia Selalmadzidou.

At the end, His Eminence Archbishop Nektarios of Anthidon spoke to the congregation and distributed the antidoron.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy, in the hall of Metochion, filled with the faithful, the Hierarch blessed the traditional Vasilopita and distributed it to everyone, wishing for a better year.

The feast day of all the gardeners ended with a splendid reception in the grounds of Metochion.
