The Feast day of Saint Seraphim at the place of his martydom, in Fanari, Karditsa

On the last sunday of September, The Holy Metropolis of Thessaliotis and Fanariofersala honours the Holy and glorious Hieromartyr Seraphim, Archbishop of Phanarios and Neochorio, in Fanari of Karditsa (the place of the martyrdom of the Saint). This Feast was instituted in 1936 by the blessed Metropolitan Ezekiel of Thessaliotis and Fanariofersala.

On Saturday evening, September 24, the official reception of the Saint’s holy relic of his head took place at the central entrance of the courtyard of the Holy Church of Saint Seraphim, following the litany of the entry of the relic into the Holy Church, by His Eminence Metropolitan Athanasios of Sisanios and Siatista. The Holy relic of the Head was held by Archimandrite Fr. Methodios Kolovos, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of “Koroni”.

Following this, the Vespers service was held with Artoklasia and preaching of the divine word, presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Athanasios of Sisanios and Siatista.

On the main day of the feast, Sunday, September 25, the service of Orthros and the Divine Liturgy were presided over and officiated by once again, His Eminence Metropolitan Athanasios of Sisanios and Siatista.

Afterwards, the Procession of the icon of Panagia Phanariotissa – Petriliotissa and the holy head of the Saint took place in the streets of Fanarios and Artoklassia in honour of the Saint in the vicinity of the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour.

Archimandrite Very Rev Fr. Amfilochios Papandreou, Chancellor of the local Holy Metropolis, on behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Timotheos of Thessaliotis and Fanariofersala, thanked Metropolitan Athanasios of Sisanios and Siatista for his blessed presence and ministering over the divine celebratory services.
