The Feast Day of Saint Panagis Basias of Kefallonia

The memory of Saint Panagis Basias of Kefallonoa (+1888) was celebrated with due ecclesiastical splendour Lixouri, Kefallonia, over the two days of June 6 and 7, 2024. The Great Vespers were officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos III of Mani, who also presided over the Divine Liturgy, invited by His Eminence Metropolitan Dimitrios of Kefallinia.

The Metropolitan of Mani preached the Holy Sermon at the Vespers on the theme: “The Resurrection of Christ and Saint Panagis Basias” and on the following morning: “The Divine Liturgy and the celebrated Saint”.

A multitude of believers made their way to the feast day and venerated Saint Panagis – ‘Papas Basias” as he is locally called, “the son of Lixouri, the boast of the priests, the luminary of Kefallinia the newly revealed one who was shown forth”.
