The Feast Day of Christmas celebrated with splendour in Perth, WA

On Christmas Day, 25 December, and with due ecclesiastical splendour, the Great Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was celebrated at the Church of the Annunciation of Our Lady, in West Perth.

The morning of the feast day commenced with the Festal Matins Service and then followed with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy presided over by His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Perth.

At the conclusion of the Gospel reading, His Grace Bishop Elpidios read the 2023 Christmas Message of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia in both the Greek and English Languages, respectively. In the Christmas message, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios stated, amongst other things, that: “I pray that the presence of our New-Born Lord will prevail in the world and in our life. May the new year 2024 be full of inner fullness for all of us; may it be joyful, peaceful, and salvific for Your relatives and Your co-workers, for all People and for our Church”.

At the conclusion of the service, on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios wished everyone a blessed and holy Christmas as well as a very happy Name Day to Parish Priest, Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, Father Emmanuel Stamatiou. His Grace prayed that the Newborn Christ grants Father Emmanuel together with his hard working and dedicated Presbytera Mary, many more years of good health and zeal to continue their outstanding work at the Parish of the Annunciation.
