The Ecumenical Patriarchate honours the memory of Saint John Chrysostom

On Saturday, 27 January 2024, on the occasion of the feast of the transfer of the Relics of Saint John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew officiated during the Divine Liturgy from the Parathrone, in the venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George.

According to ancient tradition, upon the Patriarchal Throne, the Holy Icon of the Saint and the Patriarchal Staff were placed, while the Holy Relics of Saint John Chrysostom, which were returned to Constantinople a few years ago from Rome, were placed on the Soleas of the Church for veneration by the faithful laity.

Present also for the Feast Day Divine Liturgy were Their Eminences, Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamassos and Oreini, Metropolitan Maximus of Ioannina and Metropolitan Theodoros of Seleucia, His Grace Bishop Adrianos of Halicarnassus, and many faithful from Constantinople and pilgrims from abroad.

On Friday afternoon, His All-Holiness also officiated during the Great Vespers of the Feast.
