The consecration of the first Chapel built in honour of Saint Gerasimos the Hymnographer

With feelings of joy on Tuesday morning, 12 March 2022, the consecration of the first Holy Chapel in honour of Saint Gerasimos the Hymnographer took place, which is located at the Holy Monastery of Panagia Dovra, in Veria, Greece.

At the beginning, the Matins was conducted in the Katholikon of the Holy Monastery and then, according to the consecration ritual, the Holy Relics of Martyrs were brought forth in procession to the Holy Chapel, where His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Veria, Naoussa and Campania, head of the monastic brotherhood to which he belongs and abides, consecrated the 49th Holy Altar of his pastorate.

Also present and participated in the bright and moving consecration service were, Their Eminences, Elder Metropolitan Theophylaktos of Caesarea (Patriarchate of Alexandria), Metropolitan Joel of Edessa, Pella and Almopia, Metropolitan Pavlos of Servia and Kozani, Metropolitan Georgios of Kitros, Katerini, and Platamon and His Grace Bishop Christophoros of Amphipolis

The first Divine Liturgy was then celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Veria, Naoussa and Campania in the presence of monks from Mount Athos and from the monastic brotherhoods of the local Holy Metropolis, and pious believers, who watched the proceedings from screens outside the Holy Chapel, due to the narrowness of the space.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a memorial service was held for the 202nd anniversary of the Battle of Dovra (March 12, 1822) and the hanging of the abbot Gerasimos.

Archimandrite Cherouveim Tsinoglou, Preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Edessa, Pelli and Almopia, ministered and illuminated the Holy Analogion Chanting Stand, along with the choir of chanters.
