The Bridegroom Service at the Parish of St John the Baptist in Cairns, Far North Queensland

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Brisbane, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane presided over the first Bridegroom service at the Parish of St John the Baptist Cairns, Far North Queensland.
Following the service, His Grace delivered the sermon emphasising that during this Holy and Great Week we are called to reflect on the many messages the Church provides for us. Moreover, to imitate the lives of those who placed God above everything else.
Bishop Bartholomew, then conveyed the love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia. His Grace then thanked the Parish President and Archon of our Ecumenical Patriarchate, Mr Theodore Bacalakis, the Parish Council and the many wonderful volunteers for their dedication towards the Church.
His Grace then emphasised that although the parish is small in numbers they have a big heart, being an example to other parishes. It should be noted that it was the first time a Hierarch participated and led a Holy Week service in Far North Queensland.
