The Archbishop of Australia visits the Metropolitan of Ierissos, Mount Athos and Ardamerion

At midday on Friday, 5 April 2024, His Eminence Metropolitan Theoklitos of Ierissos, Mount Athos and Ardamerion had the honour of receiving at his Metropolis headquarters, the esteemed visit of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, who was accompanied by the honourable elder of the Ecumenical Throne, His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of Miletus, and the Abbot of the historical Holy Monastery of Saint Anastasia the Pharmakolitria.

The Archbishop of Australia is travelling, via Ierissos, through to Mount Athos to celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos at the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegial, Great Monastery of Vatopedi.

It should be noted that the two Hierarchs have known each other for many years, first meeting when His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia was visiting the Monastery of Repentance of Metropolitan Theoklitos of Ierissos, the Monastery of Saint Nicholas in Varsa, Mantineia, as a pilgrim. The joy of both Hierarchs during this recent meeting was overwhelmingly joyful!
