The Archbishop of Australia at the bishopric of the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos

From the Bishopric of the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia began his official visit to the capital of Thessaly. It is recalled that His Eminence, following the invitation of the local Shepherd Pastor, His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos, is participating in the celebrations for the Patron Saint of Larissa, Saint Achillios the Wonderworker.
Upon his arrival at the Bishopric, on the afternoon of Friday, 12 May 2023, the Archbishop of Australia, who was accompanied by his Archdeacon Fr Athenagoras Karakonstantakis, was warmly welcomed by His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos, along with the Chancellor of the Metropolis, Fr. Ignatios Mourtzanos, the Director of his Personal Office, Mr. Sotirios Balatsoukas, the Vicar General Fr. Nikiforos Kontogiannis, the Holy Preachers of the Metropolis, the Hierarchical Vicars, as well as the clergy and lay associates of the local Metropolis.
Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos extended a warm welcome to the Archbishop of Australia, expressing his thanks for accepting the invitation to brighten with his presence the celebratory events in honour of the Patron and Protector of Larissa, Saint Achillios. In response to his warm welcome, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia thanked the Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos for his honourable invitation to preside over the feast of Saint Achillios, while he then spoke with the co-workers of the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, he addressed paternal advice to the clergy present and briefly mentioned the life and work of the Orthodox Church on the fifth continent, Australia.
