Holy Diocese of Perth: Opening of the New Academic Year at St Andrew’s Grammar

On Tuesday the 18th of February 2025, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth conducted the blessing (agiasmo) and cutting of the Vasilopita to mark the beginning of the new academic year at St Andrew’s Grammar Day School in Perth, WA.

His Grace conveyed the paternal blessings and love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios and read for the staff and students the message of His Eminence for the beginning of the new school year. In His message, His Eminence focused on the Three Hierarchs – St Basil the Great, St Gregory the Theologian, and St John Chrysostom – the patron saints of all levels of education, of teachers, and of students. His Eminence encouraged the students to be like the bee, which takes from the flowers only what makes good honey.

At the conclusion of the assembly, His Grace was taken on a tour of the newly built kindergarten rooms by school Principal, Mr Craig Monaghan, and inspected other new construction work at the school. His Grace commended the Principal, the staff and board of the school as well as the Management Committee of the Hellenic Community of WA for the new investments in the school.
