On Saturday, 13 April 2024, 21 years were marked since the tragic accident in the valley of Tempe that resulted in the loss of life of 21 students from Makrochori, Imathia.

The Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, in consultation with the Municipality of Tempe, held a memorial service at the scene of the accident for the repose of the souls of our brothers and sisters who tragically fell asleep in the Lord.

The Memorial Service was officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos with the participation of clergy from the local Metropolis.

Metropolitan Ieronymos, immediately after the memorial service, assured that “we will never forget our children, no matter how many years pass, and we will continue the efforts so that the peaceful Valley of Tempe will remain only a place of recreation and with its beauty, become an occasion of Praise to the Creator God for all the goods he has given to humankind”.

The Mayor of Veria, Mr. Konstantinos Borgiazidis, the Mayor of Tempe, Mr. Georgios Manolis, and the President of Makrochori, Imathia, Mr. Chrysovalantis Kehaidis, were present at the memorial service.
