Sydney School of Byzantine Chant End of Year Concert 2023

On Tuesday, 12 December 2023, the students of the Sydney School of Byzantine Chant held their end of year concert in which the Matins service of Christmas Day was presented.

His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis was present also for the concert, who at the end of the performances conveyed to all the paternal blessing and wishes of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis presented the graduates with their certificates of completion of their five-year study program, whilst also praising all the students and expressed his gratitude for their part in keeping the sacred and spiritual art of Byzantine music alive.

The Sydney School of Byzantine Chant was founded in 1995 by the late Mr. Vasili Stavropoulos and operates under the Greek Orthodox Christian Society of New South Wales, with Mr. Kosmas Kokkinos as director. The School offers five-year theoretical and practical courses in Byzantine Music. It also offers practical music lessons to Sunday School children, aged 8 to 12.
