Sydney: Free Byzantine Music Lessons for children

The Byzantine Music School of Australia (NSW branch) is offering a unique opportunity to Orthodox boys and girls, to learn a musical tradition that has been preserved in the Orthodox Church for at least thirteen centuries.

By learning this sacred musical art, children will deepen their very faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, since Orthodox hymns are essentially an expression of our dogmatic tradition, in melodic form.

This new initiative of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia will provide an opportunity for children to come together not only to learn the sacred musical tradition of the Church, but also to make friendships with peers, to experience the joy of singing in choirs and to gain the feeling of participating in the life of the Church.

The classes will begin at the end of February 2024 and will take place in two locations: at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Redfern and the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Kogarah.
