Sunday after the Nativity at the Theological School of Halki

On the Sunday after the Nativity of Christ, 31 December 2023, the Resurrection Matins and the Divine Liturgy were performed by the Abbot of the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, His Grace Bishop Kassianos of Aravissos. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop performed a memorial service for the repose of the soul of the Late Metropolitan Maximos of Sardis since his passing 37 years ago, on 30 December 1986.

Metropolitan Maximos was a graduate of the Theological School in 1937 and submitted a dissertation entitled “The chronological problem of the Lord.” Then he served for forty years (1946-1986) as a member of the Ephorate of the School and for about a decade as its president.
