Students from Oakleigh Grammar sang traditional carols from Chios for Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis

On Tuesday, 19 December 2023, a delegation of students from Oakleigh Grammar visited the headquarters of the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne, accompanied by parents and by Ms. Natasha Spanou, Greek Culture Coordinator of the school, and Mr. Konstantinos Damatopoulos, Teacher, responsible for Orthodox Christian Studies.

The students offered a bouquet of traditional Christmas flowers to His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, while they also sang traditional carols from the island of Chios. They also conveyed to His Grace, the wishes of the entire school community for a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year.

For his part, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolus, being quite moved by their singing and offering of christmas wishes, returned the seasons wishes and conveyed to the children the blessings of their Shepherd, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia. Finally, he offered each student a small gift and a traditional sweet.
