Service of the Akathist Hymn in Wagga Wagga, NSW

On the evening of Friday, April 8, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, visited the town of Wagga Wagga in New South Wales and presided at the Service of the Akathist Hymn at the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos.

In His homily, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew spoke about the sanctity of the person of the Virgin Mary for us Christians and about the responsibility we have towards Her Son.

His Grace also referred to Holy Week and the importance of the faithful attending the Holy Services and to consider the sacrifice, offer for us all at the Crucifixion of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Afterwards, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew conveyed to the congregation the love and blessings of His Eminence  Archbishop Makarios of Australia  and on his part wished everyone a happy and blessed feast of Pascha.

Finally, His Grace announced that services will be held in their church on Holy Week from Holy Thursday onwards, something that has not happened in the last two years.

This was followed by a dinner in the parish hall, where His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis had the opportunity to talk and discuss with the faithful.
