Saint John’s College Preston: Ecclesiastical New Year with symbolic planting of trees

The Students of the Greek Orthodox College of St John, Preston, in Melbourne, celebrated on Thursday, 1st September 2022, the beginning of Indictus, which constitutes the ecclesiastical New Year, while it is also dedicated, by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, in prayer for the protection of the natural environment.

Students of the College on Thursday morning attended church at the Archdiocesan Church of “Axion Esti” in Northcote, while afterwards they participated in a symbolic action of planting saplings, thus honoring the day dedicated to the natural environment.

This activity ended with a Paraklisis Supplication Service  to the Blessed Theotokos, which the children themselves sang.
