Perth WA: Vespers of Love

On Sunday, 5 May 2024, the day of Great and Holy Pascha, with the Blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and in an atmosphere of great Paschal joy, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea Presided at the Vespers of Love Service which took place at the Church of Saints Constantine and Helene, Perth.

The Vespers of Love is a service in which the Gospel reading (John 20:19-25) depicts the first appearance of the risen Lord to his disciples, and which is recited in many languages symbolising that the glorious resurrection of Christ is proclaimed to all the nations of the world.

His Grace Bishop Elpidios commenced the Gospel reading in the Greek language and which was then followed with the same passage being recited in the English, Latin, Italian, Finnish, Japanese, Turkish, French, Afrikaans, Arabic and Bulgarian languages.

At the conclusion of the service His Grace conveyed to all the paternal love and paschal wishes from His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and reminded all about His Eminence’s forthcoming visit to Perth which will take place on Friday of Bright Week, the 10th of May.
