Perth: Patronal Feast Day of Saint Andrew’s Grammar

On Thursday, 30 November 2023, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Father Terry Gerovasilis visited and conducted the Divine Liturgy on the grounds of Saint Andrew’s Grammar in Dianella, WA, to celebrate the patronal feast day of the school.

The students were extremely attentive throughout the entire Divine Liturgy, with the many Orthodox students who attend the school coming forward to receive Holy Communion.

Father Terry addressed the staff and students, reflecting briefly on the journey of Saint Andrew. Starting out as a simple fisherman and the first-called of the Lord’s disciples, Saint Andrew later travelled to Byzantium, the small city in Asia Minor that would go on to become Constantinople, the spiritual centre and heart of Orthodox Christianity. It was here that Saint Andrew the Apostle, ordained and appointed Saint Stachys of the 70, who would become the first Bishop of Byzantium. In this way, Father Terry encouraged all the students to take courage in their own ability, with the Grace of God, to bring about transformation and change in the world in their own lives and careers after school.

Finally, Father Terry conveyed to all the staff and students the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
