Perth: Great Vespers for the Feast of the Nativity of Christ

The Great Vespers Service for the Metropolis of all Feasts, the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, was celebrated with great splendour and grandeur at the Church of Sts Constantine and Helene in Northbridge on Christmas Eve.

His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Perth, officiated at the Vespers Service which was attended by many young families and various clergy of the Perth District.

The Christmas Vespers Service is one of the most beautiful services of our church as it is embellished with three Old Testament readings, several Festal Hymns referring to Christ’s Nativity, as well as an Epistle and Gospel reading.

At the conclusion of the service His Grace read out the Christmas Message of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and conveyed to all His Eminence’s paternal love and wishes for a blessed and salvific Christmas.

Following the Dismissal, the church chanters sung Christmas Carols as the faithful came up to receive a small Christmas sweet from His Grace that the parish had organised.
