Perth: Great and Holy Saturday
On Great and Holy Saturday morning, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea officiated at the Church of St Nektarios which is located on the same grounds as the Archdiocesan District of Perth offices.
Prior to the Gospel and just after the Epistle reading, bay leaves were scattered all over the church symbolising Christ’s victory over death as the Church bells rang harmoniously and the hymn “Arise, O God; judge the earth, for You shall inherit all the Gentiles” was being chanted.
It was lovely to see young families approaching the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and wishing each other a blessed and holy resurrection.
