Perth: Feast of the Holy Forefathers celebrated at the Church of Sts Constantine and Helene

On Sunday, 17 December 2023, the Feast of the Holy Forefathers, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea officiated at the Matins and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Church of Sts Constantine and Helene in Perth, WA. The 17th of  December also marked the celebration of the memory of St Dionysios of Zakynthos, the Holy Prophet Daniel and the three Holy Youths, Hananiah (Shadrach), Mishael (Meshach), and Azariah (Abednego)

His Grace conveyed to the congregation the paternal blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and wished them all a very blessed, holy and safe Christmas.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace presented to the Parish Priest, Father Terry Gerovasilis, gifts in celebration of his name day which had taken place in the week just past, on Friday 15 December (the Feast of the Holy Hieromartyr Eleftherios).

His Grace presented to Fr Terry a gift hamper on behalf of the community and congregation, as well as a personal gift of an icon of Saint Paisios the Athonite, the recently proclaimed Protector and Guardian of Australia and of our Holy Archdiocese. His Grace wished Father Terry many blessed years of fruitful and faithful service to the Church.

Finally, His Grace Bishop Elpidios reminded the faithful that St Eleftherios was so illumined by the Grace of God that the Church decided to ordain him a deacon at the age of 15, a priest at the age of 18 and a bishop at the age of 20.
