Perth: Feast Day of Saints Constantine and Helene

The Feast Day of Saints Constantine and Helene was celebrated with due ecclesiastical grandeur in the homonymous church of the Archdiocesan District of Perth located in Northbridge.

The celebrations commenced with the Vespers Service on the eve of the feast and continued the following day with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy officiated by His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, Archiepiscopal Vicar of the Archdiocesan District of Perth.

The Divine Liturgy took place in the presence of the Greek Consul in Perth, Mrs Georgia Karasiotou, representatives from the Hellenic Community of WA and the Castellorizian Association of WA, as well as teachers and students from St Andrew’s Grammar Greek Orthodox Day School.

In his sermon, His Grace focused on two aspects of Sts Constantine’s life; his calling of the First Ecumenical Council at Nicaea in 325 and his decision to send his mother, Saint Helene, to Jerusalem to search for and find the Holy Cross that our Lord was crucified on.

At the end of the service, His Grace Bishop Elpidios conveyed to all the paternal blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia which was then followed by a morning tea hosted by the church committee in the parish hall.
